A Virtual Town on Black Children and Mental Health

May 2

Speaker: Brandon Johnson

On May 1, 2022, the state of Georgia will recognize the first Black Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day (BCMHAD) to bring attention to the growing risk factors and social determinants of health that exacerbate the mental health of black children and teens. In honor of this resolution as well as Silence the Shame week, we will be hosting a virtual town hall on Monday, May 2 to increase awareness of risk factors and challenges unique to Black youth to reduce stigma surrounding suicide and mental illness as well as offer prevention and intervention strategies to support healthier outcomes.
