On the recent ‘Ring the Alarm’ report of 2020, suicide is one of the leading causes of death for Black Youth. As Black people, we are facing circumstances that REQUIRE us to ACT on behalf of our loved ones, family members, friends, and communities. Please join Dr. Alfiee, The AAKOMA Project, and a stellar team of advocates, survivors, experts, and friends, as we come together to wrestle with the issues of suicide, mental health, and mental illness in the Black community.
We will offer a vibrant virtual space for dialogue, healing, support, and a clarion call to action. At The AAKOMA Project, we believe deeply in raising consciousness, empowering our people, and changing the system. We invite you to join us on Monday, February 28th, 2022, for; A State of Emergency: You are not a burden! A Conversation about Suicide in the Black Community This event is a necessity in our community. Awareness NEEDS to be brought, tough conversations NEED to be had, and we NEED to save our hurting communities.
The State of Emergency: You are not a burden! A Conversation about Suicide in the Black Community event will provide resources, via The AAKOMA Project, and other entities, to help those who are suffering from suicidal ideation, as well as caretakers, friends, and family, who may be struggling to support those experiencing mental illness.
We invite you to join us as a guest and answer the cry for help our community so desperately needs during this time.
