MTV White House Mental Health Youth Action Forum 2022
MTV, in coordination with the Biden-Harris Administration and 18 leading mental health nonprofits, convened the first-ever mental health youth action forum to drive culture from awareness to action.
MTV Entertainment Group engaged young people (18+) from across the United States to employ their creative expertise and direct knowledge of their peers and diverse lived experiences to inspire their communities to take meaningful mental health actions.
Groups of 4-5 participants, including youth campaigners, activists and digital creators, developed creative ideas that:
1. Inspire young people to take steps to improve their everyday mental health;
2. Encourage young people to reach out to friends, support their peers, and check in on each other; or
3. Help make people more aware of the crisis services available to them.
The two-day forum in Washington, D.C. involved creative and skill-building workshops, brainstorming sessions with nonprofit mentors and industry professionals, and a captivating program that included top talent and senior officials from the Biden-Harris Administration.
The convening culminated with presentations by participants at a White House event, whereby they shared their campaign tactics, messaging guidance, prototypes and storyboards with influential media and technology professionals, government officials, and nonprofit executives who can advance the best ideas forward to be the basis for future creative mental health campaigns.
