Carúmey Stevens graduated from Cornell University summa cum laude with honors and distinction in May 2019. During her time at Cornell, she dedicated her time to translational research and community advocacy on the topics of marginalized identities, youth, and mental health. She recently participated in a research fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health where she was able to apply her skills and grow her passions for pediatric mental illness and its treatment. Currently, Carúmey works in talent acquisition and human resources at NBCUniversal where she supports candidate experience and diversity and inclusion efforts. She is excited to be a part of AAKOMA’s efforts to use community based participatory research to create culturally sensitive and informed interventions for Black youth. In the future, Carúmey aspires to use her current skills and experiences to improve the lives and experiences of people through data driven, psychology focused research and practice.
